Be Prepared: CarGO Kit

Be Prepared: CarGO Kit

Posted by Jennifer Lintner |

If you have been in Janelle’s presence for more than 5 minutes you have heard her utter the phrase, “I have that/those/one in my car.” The girl has everything in her car and it amazes me. It’s like Mary Poppins’s carpet bag. I have told her repeatedly that she should make a list for me of the items that I should keep in my own car so I am prepared like Janelle Pauldine. Not prepared like a Boy Scout. Prepared like Janelle Pauldine.

One day before Christmas, Janelle stopped by to pick up my daughter and she had a gift for me. It contained everything I needed to create my own Janelle-inspired CarGO Kit. Like that name? My husband made it up and I thought it was cute so we’ll go with it.

I pulled out a medium utility tote from Thirty-One that I had on hand and put everything in it. Not only is this amazing for everyday life, but with baseball and soccer starting for both kids we are always in the car. Always needing something.

Janelle has been doing this for awhile so she thought of practically everything!

I only need to add a couple things: mini notebooks, jug of water, a mini umbrella, and a couple of old towels. Oh, and a change of clothes for each kid right down to underwear. Now really, who thinks of that when they stop carrying a diaper bag? I didn’t. Yet I need stuff for them constantly. If you know my kids, you know that Ainsley has a knack for finding mud and Jack is THE messiest eater ever. Add the multiple extracurricular activities on top of that and we usually need an extra something!

This is a phenomenal gift idea or just something you can do for yourself to make sure you are prepared. The granola bars have come in handy several times already when I have forgotten to pack a lunch for work. Not only is it practical, it is fun and inexpensive to put together.

What items would you add to your CarGO Kit?

  • Sound advice.
  • Tired of asking your kids to give the person in the bathroom a little privacy? Give them a place to stand while waiting their turn!!
  • Hot day with no clip or pony holder? Smart teachers use what’s on hand! Binder clips are good for more than holding papers!!
